Summary
Alvin Lamar Worthy (27 de julio de 1982), conocido profesionalmente como Westside Gunn, es un rapero y diseñador de moda estadounidense. Confundó en 2012 el sello discográfico Griselda Records con su hermano Conway the Machine y primo Benny the Butcher.[1]

Carrera
editarWestside Gunn publicó su primer mixtape en 2005, sin embargo, su carrera fue interrumpida por problemas con la ley. Gunn estuvo en pausa desde 2006 hasta 2011.[2]
En 2012, Gunn se inspiró para revivir su carrera tras el tiroteo de su hermano Conway, que lo dejó con discapacidades permanentes, así como el asesinato de su primo Machine Gun Black, en 2006. El primer proyecto de Gunn bajo el sello de Griselda fue el mixtape Hitler Wears Hermes. Aunque el nombre generó controversia por el nombre de Adolf Hitler, explicó que es un juego de palabras con la película The Devil Wears Prada.[2]
En los siguientes años, Gunn publicó múltiples mixtapes y EPs, incluyendo secuelas para Hitler Wears Hermes, bajo el sello discográfico Griselda. El álbum de estudio debut de Gunn fue Flygod, lanzado el 11 de marzo de 2016.[3]
El 3 de marzo de 2017, Griselda Records firmó un acuerdo con el sello discográfico del rapero Eminem, Shady Records.[4] En octubre del 2020, Westside Gunn publicó su debut bajo el sello Shady Records, Who Made the Sunshine.
El 17 de abril de 2020, lanzó su tercer álbum de estudio, Pray for Paris. El álbum cuenta con colaboraciones de artistas como Tyler, the Creator, Wale, Joey Badass y Freddie Gibbs.[5] En julio de ese mismo año, publica Flygod Is an Awesome God II, la secuela de su mixtape Flygod Is an Awesome God. El álbum cuenta con colaboraciones de artistas como Benny The Butcher, Keisha Plum, Boldy James, y Daringer.[6]
En 2021, protagonizó la película Conflicted, junto a Benny the Butcher, Michael Rapaport, y J. Holiday.[7] También lanzaría dos canciones tituladas "TV Boy" y "Julia Lang".[8] Ambas canciones serían incluidas en su mixtape, Hitler Wears Hermes 8: Side B, publicado ese mismo año.
El 13 de octubre de 2023, Westside Gunn publica su quinto álbum de estudio titulado And Then You Pray For Me con colaboraciones de AA Rashid, JID, Conway the Machine, Benny the Butcher, Stove God Cooks, Rick Ross, Giggs, Ty Dolla Sign, Keisha Plum, Denzel Curry, Boldy James, EST Gee, Jeezy, Peezy, Rome Streetz, y KayCyy. El álbum es la secuela de Pray for Paris, álbumes cuya portada fue diseñada por el diseñador de modas Virgil Abloh.
